My first thoughts are that we need to look at Oman. Some arab states think they are dragging their heels in regards to monetary union.

Personally I think the Arabs are trying to get a bloc set up like the EU - with their own single currency. Political, economic and social integration between arab states.

This next link says it all!!

Arabs up until now have never spoken with one voice !!!

Quote:
The Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit, to be held in Kuwait in January, 2009, provides a "historic opportunity" for forming an Arab economic bloc,

Quote:
The coming summit, the first of its kind, is pivotal to activate the Arab economic integration amidst the current global financial turbulence.

"It will help the Arabs have a say in the possible formation of a new world economic financial order,"
Quote:
He voiced hope that the summit would lead to a single Arab position for facing up to the ramifications of the global financial crisis on the Arab economies

my suspicions have been confirmed

just found this

http://www.gulfnews.com/opinion/colu.../10264814.html

Quote:
Senior Arab officials interviewed for this article (but who wish to remain anonymous) confirm the endemic inability of Arab states to act together has led to a paralysis of Arab diplomacy and, more generally, to the discredit of the whole Arab state system.

now who will be the spokesperson for this bloc.............. their madhi ?????

Will it be this new bloc that broker a peace deal with Israel???

BINGO

I think the Peace between the Israelis and Iran will be the real peace and brokered by the Arabs.

We see the aligning of the Arab states. North Africa, The Caucasus, Asia via the Asean

A United Arab States doesn't seem so far fetched now does it?
